At a concert presented by Carnegie Hall, Orchestra of St. Luke's premieres Uproot, a new work by Iman Habibi. The piece is commissioned in conjunction with Gabriela Lena Frank Academy of Music. Curated by Gabriela Lena Frank, the concert features music by composers of color. In 2018, the Music in Color series presented the life and music of Florence Price, the first African-American female composer to have her work performed by a major American orchestra. The Philadelphia Orchestra Premieres a Newly Commissioned Work

The Philadelphia Orchestra has commissioned me to write a piece in dialogue with Beethoven Symphonies nos. 5 and 6, in celebration of Beethoven's 250th Birthday anniversary. Conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin will lead the orchestra in three performances of this programme on March 12th, March 14th, and March 15th in Philadelphia's Verizon Hall. This commission was made possible through a collaboration between The Philadelphia Orchestra and Gabriela Lena Frank Creative Academy of Music.
