SUMMARY:Pianist Carolyn Enger Performs Resonating Earth\, including Habibi's in the brittle quietude - Watchung\, NJ
DESCRIPTION:Description\n\nCarolyn Enger present Resonating Earth. From the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico to coal burning plants in the Ruhr Valley of Germany\, from the glorious heights of mountain ranges in Alaska to mountains of potassium waste in Eastern Germany\, Resonating Earth was created in response to the climate crisis. A stylistically fluid creation with a wide range of ambient music\, including Bach\, Nico Muhly\, Pia Møller Johansen\, Missy Mazzoli\, Philip Glass\, Marcos Balter\, Iman Habibi and Caroline Shaw; alongside stunning imagery of the environment by Peabody Award-winning producer Elliott Forrest(WQXR)\, visual artist Myles Aronowitz\, environmental artists Mary Edna Fraser\, Sheryl Intrator and internationally-exhibited environmental activist and 2025 CIWEM Environmental Photographer of the Year J Henry Fair. Resonating Earth creates a soundscape focusing on the beauty in our environment and inspires environmental activism in an artistic\, musically immersive way. \nResonating Earth seeks to transport listeners to a still\, meditative space\, allowing them to decompress from their daily lives\, and invites introspection about humanity’s place on the planet\, inspiring action to protect our beautiful\, fragile world. \nInternationally celebrated American pianist Carolyn Enger has gained critical acclaim for her exquisite lyrical playing and her deeply felt interpretations. Ms. Enger maintains an active touring schedule across two continents. She has performed at well known venues such as Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall\, the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C.\, The National Gallery in Oslo\, The Portuguese Synagogue‘s Candlelight Concert series in Amsterdam\, the Bach-Festival in Arnstadt\, the White Stork Synagogue in Wrocław\, Poland and Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts. Recent highlights include The Bruce Museum\, Noontime Concerts and Starr King Way Performance Series in San Francisco\, among others. In addition to an active performance schedule\, Ms. Enger has enjoyed remarkable success as a recording artist: The New York Times selected her Naxos recording of intimate Ned Rorem miniatures\, Piano Album I & Six Friends\, as one of the newspaper’s “Best In Classical Recordings”\, writing “Among the 90th birthday tributes this year to the essential American composer Ned Rorem\, this recording especially stands out\,” while Gramophone declared\, “Enger raises the miniatures to a higher level.” The recording was “Album of the Week” on Sirius XM’s Symphony Hall and was featured on their program Living American. Her recording Resonating Earth (2024) was released to glowing praise: “a thoughtful programme…enthralling” (Nigel Simone\, International Piano)\, “lovingly performed…a beautiful\, meaningful recital” (Steve Smith\, Night After Night)\, “sensitively performed and intelligently curated” (Frances Wilson\, Interlude)\, and has been streamed over 500\,000 times on Apple Music. Her latest recording American Ethos was released in May 2026 and was a featured New Classical Release on Spotify\, Apple Music Classical\, Presto Music and the Idagio streaming platforms.

SUMMARY:Olympia Symphony Led by Alexandra Arrieche Performs Iman Habibi's Jeder Baum spricht
DESCRIPTION:Time & Location\n\n\nMar 21\, 2027\, 3:00 PM – 4:50 PM \nCapital High School PAC\, 2707 Conger Ave NW\, Olympia\, WA 98502\, USA \n\n\n\n\nAbout the event\n\n\n\nTrees speak. Water sings. A storm gathers. And somewhere beyond it\, the air clears. \nInspired by the abundant nature and breathtaking landscapes that surround Olympia\, CONNECT listens to the living world through trees\, water\, weather\, memory\, and renewal. This is not nature as background scenery. This is nature as presence\, as motion\, as something that speaks when we slow down enough to hear it. \nIman Habibi’s Jeder Baum spricht\, or Every Tree Speaks\, opens the concert in conversation with Beethoven. Written as a response to Beethoven’s Fifth and Sixth Symphonies\, the work listens to the natural world through a present-day lens\, where beauty and fragility exist side by side. The piece’s direct connection to Beethoven makes its place beside the Pastoral Symphony feel less like a pairing and more like a conversation across centuries. \nThen\, water takes center stage. In Tan Dun’s words\, “Water is an element you can’t block. You can block land…but water has no such frontiers.” In the Water Concerto\, percussionist Svet Stoyanov turns that idea into something you can see and hear. Bowls\, basins\, splashes\, ripples\, and touch become sound\, creating music that feels heard and seen at the same time \nSun. JoAnn Falletta leads Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice\, where orchestral color does the storytelling and the momentum never lets go. Violinist Nikki Chooi performs the world premiere of a Violin Concerto written for him by his friend\, Iman Habibi\, bringing a contemporary voice into the heart of the program\, followed by the delicate imagination of Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite. The evening culminates in Poulenc’s Gloria\, with soprano Hailey Clark\, the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus\, and the full orchestra in music that is luminous\, bold\, and soaring. It is a concert of wonder\, transformation\, and uplift.

SUMMARY:Vers la flamme - Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra and Nikki Chooi\, Led by Judith Yan\, Premiere Habibi's Violin Concerto\, Âtash
DESCRIPTION:Judith Yan\, conductor\nNikki Chooi\, violin\n\n\nA concert designed specifically to connect directly with its audience\, and through connection\, move us forward. \nPodium Partner Judith Yan curates a unique concert experience as we move towards the flame. The evening features 5 brand new works by female composers (including Adriana Isabel Figueroa Manas and Kendra Harder) in a commissioning project entitled A Better World\, supported by a generous donation from Carol Edwards. These works are interspersed throughout an evening of music where musical fire creates a new and better world. \nViolinist Nikki Chooi returns to the SSO after his 2015 debut in a brand new work co-commissioned by the SSO. Iman Habibi’s Atash was created in response to the devastating fires of 2023\, and Habibi’s goal is to show our changing relationship with this powerful natural force\, where the orchestra represents nature\, and the soloist reacts to it as humans have done throughout history. \nOur earth\, our society\, each of us\, finding a better world. Creating something from the ashes as we move towards the flame. \nIf you’re thinking about attending multiple shows\, bundle your tickets and save!
