University of Michigan Chamber Choir will perform Iman Habibi’s The Rose of Midnight, winner of 2016 Brehm Prize for Choral Composition, and the Godfrey Ridout award from the SOCAN Foundation.

The Rose of Midnight is based on a poem of the same name by Vachel Lindsay. It was commissioned by The Esoterics in 2013, as part of the prize for winning the international category of their POLYPHONOS competition. It was written for a concert named “Eternity,” celebrating the work of poets who took their own lives.
