Canceled due to COVID – Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra Performs Jeder Baum spricht

December 5, 2020 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm CST

$20
Iman Habibi WSO

This concert is canceled due to Manitoba entering code red restrictions to limit the spread of COVID-19.

On December 4th and 5th, 2020, The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, led by Maestro Daniel Raiskin, will be performing Iman Habibi’s Jeder Baum spricht, as part of their Beyond Classics series. The concert is entitled: “Beethoven’s 5th & Mozart”

Jeder Baum spricht was commissioned by The Philadelphia Orchestra, and premiered by them to an empty Verizon Hall (due to COVID-19 advisory) on March 12, 2020, for the 250th anniversary of Beethoven. It is an unsettling rhapsodic reflection on the climate catastrophe, and is written in dialogue with Beethoven’s 5th and 6th symphonies.

There will be two performances on December 4th and 5th 2020. Below is WSO’s event description:

Iman Habibi is well known to the WSO and its audiences. The Iranian-Canadian composer recently wrote a wonderful work for the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra to be paired with one of the best-known compositions in classical music, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5.

A rarely performed but brilliant Concertone for two Violins and Orchestra by Mozart shines the spotlight on the WSO’s Karl Stobbe and Jeremy Buzash. A gorgeous brass and timpani piece begins the evening of music by Samuel Barber, best known for his breathtaking Adagio for Strings.”
