Written for pianist Michelle Cann shortly after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and as part of project #GLFCAMGigThruCovid, in the brittle quietude explores the vacuum that was created following the pandemic, and the fragility of our ecosystem as musicians. It ends with the hope that a better, more equitable, more conscientious future may await us on the other side. I dedicate this piece to the memory of my late uncle, who lost his life to COVID-19.
