Happy Canada Day! Join us July 1 for this free concert celebrating Canada and Canadians through the diverse artistry and unparalleled creativity of Canada’s best and brightest musicians.

The National Arts Centre Orchestra shares the stage with a stellar lineup of homegrown artists performing music by great Canadian composers like Iman Habibi, Rita Ueda, and Ana Sokolović. The concert will conclude with Hymn to Freedom, by the late, great Oscar Peterson.

More exciting repertoire will be announced from the stage, so don’t miss this rare opportunity to come together once again to share in our love of music with some of Canada’s finest young musicians shining from the stage.

Talk & Tea: Beethoven

HPO Composer-in-Residence explores the lives and music of composers featured on our Mainstage! We are taking a deep dive into the monumental impact of Ludwig van Beethoven and his contemporaries in the Classical era. Talk & Tea audiences can enjoy light refreshments during this fascinating presentation before going into the concert hall for a sneak peek at an HPO rehearsal.

Illumination triumphs over fate’s dark shadows in a program of absolute Beethoven. Pioneering Hawaiʻi-born and Rapa Nui pianist Mahani Teave joins Dane Lam and your HSO for Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4, the unconquerable Symphony No. 5, and the Hawaiʻi premiere of Iman Habibi’s Beethoven-inspired Jeder Baum Spricht (Every Tree Speaks).

Performance Description:

Hamilton Philharmonic ends the season on a triumphant note with guest conductor James Sommerville. Known for his poetic interpretations, Nikki Chooi takes centre stage for Mozart’s enchanting Violin Concerto No. 4. Iman Habibi’s Jeder Baum spricht offers a rhapsodic reflection on climate change in Beethoven’s signature style. The heroic journey of Beethoven’s immortal Symphony No. 5 finishes the season with soaring dramatic melodies and triumph over life’s challenges.

New York Philharmonic and Maestra Lina Gonzalez-Granados Perform Jeder Baum spricht

Young People’s Concert: One Planet

May 14

Maestra Lina Gonzalez-Granados leads the New York Philharmonic in a performance of Habibi’s Jeder Baum spricht.

Explore Earth’s natural beauty through music, and see how some composers have become climate activists fighting for environmental justice and a clean planet.

Young People’s Concerts are intended for children ages 6–12 and their families. All are welcome, but each person requires a ticket.

All attendees, including children, will be required to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19 with a vaccine authorized by the World Health Organization or the Food and Drug Administration. Children under 5 years of age, who are currently not eligible for vaccination, will not be permitted entry.

In addition, all guests attending Philharmonic performances must maintain appropriate face coverings in accordance with current CDC guidelines.
