I would like to thank Arash Rod at Persian Media Production for creating this video report, and interview regarding Del Sol String Quartet‘s performance at University of California Irvine. Orchestra of St. Luke’s and Gabriela Lena Frank Creative Academy of Music (GLFCAM) have joined forces to commission several chamber works from composer fellows of GLFCAM, including works by Iman Habibi, Christine Delphine Hedden, Marco-Adrián Ramos, Anjna Swaminathan, and Matthew Evan Taylor.
Iman Habibi’s work, Uproot for String Quartet, will be premiered on April 4th, 2019 at Harlem School of Arts, at a recital presented by Carnegie Hall.

Music in Color: Premiere of Uproot by Orchestra of St. Luke’s Presented by Carnegie Hall
Del Sol String Quartet will be giving a preview performance of my string quartet, RevolutionStreet, at Fifth Street Farms in Berkeley, California. Named “Reinventing Traditions,” the program are works by Erika Oba, Lou Harrison, Ben Johnston, Zeynep Gedizlioğlu, and Erberk Eryılmaz.

Del Sol String Quartet will be recording Iman Habibi’s RevolutionStreet, alongside other works, for release on an upcoming album sponsored by Jordan Center for Persian Studies and Culture and the department of music at The University of California Irvine.
San Francisco’s critically-acclaimed Del Sol String Quartet presents a program focusing on young Iranian and Iranian-American composers, including Iman Habibi’s RevolutionStreet. The piece was written for and refined during workshops with Chiara String Quartet, while Iman was a composer fellow at the Gabriela Lena Frank Academy of Music. Del Sol will also perform Ben Johnston’s String Quartet No. 4, Amazing Grace, as well as works by three UCI graduate students.
The concert is sponsored by the Jordan Center for Persian Studies, and the department of music at The University of California Irvine. It will take place on Friday, March 1st, 2019 at Winifred Smith Hall at 8pm. Admission is free!
At a concert presented by Carnegie Hall, Orchestra of St. Luke‘s premieres Uproot, a new work by Iman Habibi. The piece is commissioned in conjunction with Gabriela Lena Frank Academy of Music. Curated by Gabriela Lena Frank, the concert features music by composers of color. In 2018, the Music in Color series presented the life and music of Florence Price, the first African-American female composer to have her work performed by a major American orchestra.

Bueno Yabbelow Music Series features internationally-renowned performers and talented emerging composers from all over the world. Combining live music with engaging conversation in a celebratory yet relaxed “fireside chat” environment, our series (low-cost tickets) kicks off with the Grammy-nominated multicultural Chiara String Quartet. They tell stories from their lives as touring artists and play some of their favorite pieces from a multitude of eras and genres.
